I get so many emails with questions on buying boats for bowfishing I decided to do a full episode about what to look for in a boat. This covers sizes, options, and things to consider as well as prices. I also break down the things that i find important and why i want them.
Hello,
I’ve found your bow fishing podcasts and its really helped me with my potential bow fishing boat purchase. I have next to no boating experience and in my area (southern Indiana), the rivers are smallER, but have strong current, while the lakes nearby are small-moderate size. I never realized how many features there were to boats and why they were there-I thought your idea of the 20hp WITHOUT power tilt/trim and the rock guard was ingenious. My question is more of a logistical one. On the White River, with a strong current, comparable to the Wabash or Ohio rivers, for a 14-16 ft. boat, what size motor would be sufficient to scoot myself + 2 up river? With a lake, I would be happy with a 20hp motor, but my brother and I are dual purposing this to grow into a river boat. Many thanks for your educational videos that help the younger generation get into these outdoor and expensive hobbies.
Thanks,
Michael Pennington, OCUI2
